#36/2019 Young Vietnamese musicians charm the crowd at the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 fan zone
A group of young and talented Vietnamese children from Chu Manh Trinh Secondary School have charmed visitors at the AFC Asian Cup fan zone in Abu Dhabi with performances on traditional instruments rarely seen in the UAE.
Four youngsters stepped up to showcase their musical ability on the beachside stage with the audience soaking up the chance to enjoy the magic of another culture against the backdrop of Asia's biggest football tournament.
Sharing his insights, Dang Phuong Anh, one of the performing group's members said: "I love playing music and doing it here in Abu Dhabi on the beach at this football fan zone is a great experience that me and my friends will never forget."
Her music teacher Le Thanh Phuong added: "With football being played between 24 nations, we're here to promote and teach people about Vietnamese culture. What better way to do that than through our music, which like football, is a great way to bring people together."
Dang Viet Quang, the father of group member Phuong Anh, said the fan zone's cultural performances live up to the tournament's theme of "Bringing Asia Together" by uniting people from all over the Continent through the power of football and love of music.
"The AFC Asian Cup is a great football tournament and Vietnam is part of it. Football holds a very special place in the hearts of the Vietnamese people. This group wants more people and supporters to engage in the tournament and this is an opportunity and an honour for them to introduce traditional Vietnamese music to the world."
Quang added: "We are so happy to see not only Vietnamese, but other nationalities cheering and enjoying this performance."

About the AFC Asian Cup:
The AFC Asian Cup is the pinnacle international team tournament held by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) every four years to determine the champion of Asia. The competition is the second-oldest continental football championship (after the Copa America) and was first held in 1956. The AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 expands the number of participating nations from 16 to 24, making it the biggest tournament ever.
The 2019 tournament will be the second time the UAE has hosted the event, after successfully staging the finals in 1996. The Asian Cup UAE 2019 runs from 5 January to 1 February 2019, with 51 matches being played in eight world class stadiums located across four host cities - Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
