Round of 16 race for Groups A, B and C explained
 
While China PR, Korea Republic and Jordan have already guaranteed progression to the Round of 16, the nine remaining teams Groups A, B and C are all still in contention for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Knockout Stage.

The AFC presents the possible qualification scenarios based on results in forthcoming Matchday Three fixtures.

GROUP A
United Arab Emirates' 2-0 victory over India saw the host nation jump to the top of Group A, but the fate of all four sides will be determined in the final two matches, to be held at 20:00 on Tuesday.

GROUP B
Jordan cannot be dislodged as Group B winners on the final match day, while Australia will secure their passage to the next round with a draw. Syria and Palestine also remain in contention.

GROUP C
Korea Republic and China PR, both already certain to qualify for the next stage, will meet to decide the group winner, while Philippines and Kyrgyz Republic will meet in the knowledge that they still have the chance to progress to the Round of 16 as one of the four highest-ranked third-placed teams.

About the AFC Asian Cup:
 
The AFC Asian Cup is the pinnacle international team tournament held by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) every four years to determine the champion of Asia. The competition is the second-oldest continental football championship (after the Copa America) and was first held in 1956. The AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019TM expands the number of participating nations from 16 to 24, making it the biggest tournament ever.

The 2019 tournament will be the second time the UAE has hosted the event, after successfully staging the finals in 1996. The Asian Cup UAE 2019 runs from 5 January to 1 February 2019, with 51 matches being played in eight world class stadiums located across four host cities - Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
