#24/2019 Limited edition coin produced in honour of AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 A limited-edition one Dirham coin, stamped with Mansour, the official mascot of the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019, has been created by the Central Bank of the UAE in celebration of the biggest-ever Continental showpiece in history.
The commemorative Dirham is the first-of-its-kind to be manufactured since 2012 as the host nation continues to throw its support behind the 24-nation tournament.
Tournament Director for the Local Organising Committee, His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, commented: "The Dirham is engrained as a symbol of the UAE, so to have a commemorative coin for the AFC Asian Cup shows how significant this tournament is to sport in the country.
"The AFC Asian Cup will leave a lasting legacy on communities through the number of successful outreach programmes and the coin will act as a reminder to everybody who has played such an important role in delivering and celebrating this ground-breaking event."

About the AFC Asian Cup:
The AFC Asian Cup is the pinnacle international team tournament held by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) every four years to determine the champion of Asia. The competition is the second-oldest continental football championship (after the Copa America) and was first held in 1956. The AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019TM expands the number of participating nations from 16 to 24, making it the biggest tournament ever.
The 2019 tournament will be the second time the UAE has hosted the event, after successfully staging the finals in 1996. The Asian Cup UAE 2019 runs from 5 January to 1 February 2019, with 51 matches being played in eight world class stadiums located across four host cities - Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
