A powerful documentary series of inspiring videos produced to celebrate the true spirit of football and the tournament slogan of "Bringing Asia Together" is set to be released by the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 Local Organising Committee (LOC).

Through the series of short films titled "Voices of Asia", the LOC has sought to bring to life the fervour of Asia's biggest-ever showpiece and provide a global platform to the Continent's passionate fans.

Episode One features Hareez Al Menhali, the UAE national and super fan who was spotted by cameras in tears at the 2015 AFC Asian Cup in Australia and whose iconic image became a symbol for both the competition and the undeniable passion for football that exists in Asia.

Each episode focuses on individuals from different Asian nationalities, from all walks of life, living in the host nation UAE, sharing their personal journeys and the profound impact of Asia's crown jewel in their lives.

By providing a full spectrum of individual voices, the series puts the spotlight on the lifeblood of every competition – the passionate fans – and their coming together as one Continent for Asia's most prestigious tournament.

For Hareez, his journey with the UAE national side and the AFC Asian Cup will start all over again as his beloved team open the tournament against Bahrain in Group A at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, on Saturday, January 5 at 8pm.

Speaking proudly on camera an emotional Al Menhali said: "I never imagined shedding tears in Australia. But it was a scene for history. When I returned home so many people greeted me and said they were moved by what they saw.

"Now it is my duty to support the National team again. We have only made it to the final once before. So, I hope to see our UAE team win the AFC Asian Cup here at home. Football is so important to me. It is part of my identity. Football is love. There is no status, it just brings people together."

The opening match will kick-off following a spectacular and star-studded opening ceremony and is the first of 51 matches being played in eight world-class stadiums located across four host cities - Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Sharjah.

With tickets selling fast for the opening ceremony and all group matches, fans wanting to support their country or attend the tournament are encouraged to book early at www.asiancup2019.com to avoid disappointment. Tickets start at only 25 DHS.
