Football fans and tourists travelling to the UAE during the AFC Asian Cup can look forward to receiving an exclusive limited-edition stamp in their passports thanks to a joint initiative launched this week with the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.
The special stamp, which depicts the tournament logo, will be issued to everyone passing through immigration at the UAE's airports throughout the tournament from December 30 to February 1 in an initiative designed to introduce the spirit of the tournament to all nationalities and cultures from across the world.
The issuance of the stamp comes as the UAE makes final preparations for the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 which will see 51 matches being played in eight world-class stadiums located across four host cities - Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Sharjah.
Commenting on the stamp, which will only be issued during the duration of the tournament, HE Aref Hamad Al Awani, Tournament Director for the Local Organising Committee, said: "Offering a special memento in the form of a passport stamp to fans from around the world is yet another step in our plan that shows how proud we are to host the AFC Asian Cup and reaffirms our commitment to achieve the tournament's mission of bringing Asia together."
"The Local Organising Committee is keen on offering such dazzling initiatives that add to the value of the tournament. Through this initiative, we will expand the reach of the tournament and take it to all peoples of Asia," HE Al Awani added while paying tribute to the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and the different state airports for their support in the initiative.
To secure a stamp, football fans and tourists will simply need to pass through one of the main immigration desks at any of the UAE's airport terminals.
